By BBN Staff:The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Forestry, the Environment, Sustainable Development and Immigration and the National Agriculture and Trade Show Committee thanks all attendees and organizers for another successful show this year.
This year’s show included 377 private sector exhibitors and vendors in addition to exhibits from government and regional agencies.
Attendees this year totaled 37,461 for Saturday and Sunday.
The attendance represents a decline of 927 from last year’s total of 38,388.
No major incidents were reported during the show and the Belize Police Department and the Belmopan City Traffic Department were congratulated for their sterling efforts.
The ministry thanks the volunteers on the National Agriculture Trade Show Committee for their stewardship that made the show a success.
The Ministry also noted with regret the sustained social media campaign disseminating false information aimed at discouraging attendance at the show, which included false security scares and price increases.
“Those that chose to wage this negative campaign must be reminded that the people most affected by this are the hardworking vendors that go to the show to earn an honest living,” a statement from the Ministry says.
The Ministry thanks the business community and the general public as it continues to improve on the show grounds and reorient the show to a true family event.
