By BBN Staff:Today is observed as World Press Freedom Day and this year’s theme is “Keeping Power in Check: Media, Justice and the Rule of Law”.
To celebrate the day, The Goldson House for Democracy and Patriotism in Belmopan hosted two presentations under the theme “Let Journalism Live!” as a tribute to Journalism in Belize, and in honoring Philip S. W. Goldson’s role in this field during Belize’s nationalist movement of the 1950s.

During the question and answer session, Kendra Griffith, Coordinator of the Goldson House for Democracy & Patriotism, and Seidy Godette, Coordinator of the George Price Center also shared perceptions with the audience.
The Goldson House also features an exhibit room with numerous articles written by Goldson for The Belize Billboard, the foremost newspaper of the 1950s. Among these are writings critical of colonial authorities while championing the cause of Belizeans in the 1950s.
