Anthony Carballo beats murder charge

Posted: Friday, May 4, 2018. 8:25 am CST.

BBN Staff: Anthony Carballo Jr. is home after serving six years on remand at the Hattieville prison.

He was charged with the May 2012 murder of businessman Jerminie McNab who was gunned down in his store on Cemetery Road in Belize City.

Police say that Carballo confessed to the crime which was initially a robbery attempt.

In court, Carballo explained that he confessed because he had been tasered by police.

With that, Supreme Court Justice Colin Williams, was of the view that the confession was not freely provided and was as a result inadmissible as it violated the Evidence Act.

And so Carballo represented by attorney Oscar Selgado, was freed of charges against him.
