Cacao festival kicks off on May 18

Posted: Friday, May 4, 2018. 11:02 am CST.

BBN Staff: The annual Toledo Cacao Festival is kicking off on May 18 in Punta Gorda town and will run through to Sunday, May 20.

What started off as just a festival for farmers to showcase their fine quality cacao in 2007 is now in its 11th year and has blossomed into a three-day event with local food and drinks, trips to cacao farms and musical competitions embracing the south’s indigenous heritage.

The public is encouraged to attend and taste the fine quality cacao that Belize has been known to produce. This indigenous produce will be used to make traditional chocolate desserts, chocolate beer, and chocolate soaps and much more.

The Cacao Festival will also host a large street fair which will feature different types of music, cultural displays, and exhibitions to entertain the entire family.
