Uno gas station robber released on bail

Posted: Saturday, May 5, 2018. 8:33 am CST.

BBN Staff: We had previously reported that Marvin Phillips, 19, was one of two men remanded to prison after they were charged with the armed robbery at the UNO gas station in San Ignacio.

However, in the Supreme Court on Friday he was granted bail of $5,000 by Justice Francis Cumberbatch. He is to return to court on June 28.

It is alleged that two weeks ago Phillips and Asher Saunders robbed the gas station and escaped with almost $40,000 in cash and cheques.

Court documents reveal that four men visited the gas station, two entered the convenience store, while two remained outside. One of the men inside reportedly pulled out a firearm and assaulted the cashier who coughed up all the cash and cheques in her possession.

The men then fled in a Kia car. However, they were captured on camera and easily identified as they wore no masks.
