By BBN Staff: Garif Valentine, a father of four and musician popularly known as “Positive Vibes” received less than positive news at the start of 2018.
His eldest son, Jamir Valentine, an 11-year-old Standard Four student at Garden City Primary School was diagnosed with an advanced state of bone cancer.
One of his legs has already been amputated.
Every week he undergoes a round of chemotherapy to battle the deadly disease, which also took his mother’s life just years ago.
“ My mind immediately went back to the tragedy of his mom who died of rather the similar thing,” Positive Vibes told us.
The diagnoses was horrifying, he said.
He told BBN: “ My heart felt heavy and tears came running down to think that my eleven year old would now be suffering from a life taking disease.”
For now, the distressed father, who has spent 13 years of his life making Belizean music, is now seeking the assistance of Belizeans to ensure his child survives this uphill battle with the deadly disease.
On his Facebook page, he recently launched a GoFundMe campaign with a $7,000 target.
Unfortunately, they are far off from that target.
