By BBN Staff: The Embassy of Mexico in Belize today announced that in partnership with the Belize District Education Center & the Ministry of Education Youth, Sports and of Culture, it will be hosting the Belize District Art Showcase: Every Child is an Artist; Arts for Learning and Earning, from May 11-23.

The month of May has been designated by the Ministry of Education Youth, Sports and of Culture as ‘Education Month’.

Education month comes under the theme “Literacy: a Ladder to Learning and Earning”, in order to promote the idea that education is not just a priority but the primary vehicle of a nation’s transformation and progress.

The event will showcase the works from young Belizean students, from primary and secondary school level of the Belize district.

The purpose of this initiative is to turn art into a vehicle for the development of young people and to create a virtuous cycle of aspiration and achievement for their families and their communities.

The opening ceremony will be held this Thursday, May 10 at 10:00 a.m. at the Mexican Cultural Institute in Belize city.
