Belize City Council HR Manager victim of arson

Posted: Thursday, May 10, 2018. 9:56 am CST.

BBN Staff: Our newsroom has been reliably informed of an arson incident which has a political back drop.

Human Resource Manager at the Belize City Council, Sharlene Rudon, woke up to her vehicle on fire.

Additionally, her home was nearly set ablaze.

The mother of one daughter was alone at her Kingspark home in Belize City at the time of the attack.

It is strongly suspected that the arson may have been linked to recent terminations at the Belize City Council.

Rudon was the person who signed off on several termination letters this week for which no reason was documented for the termination.

Six employees and the City Administrator, Candice Miller, were terminated.

President of the Christian Workers’ Union, Evan Mose Hyde, had indicated that the termination of two of his union members did not follow due process and was unusual as they had both just been positively appraised.

BBN has learned that the Belize City Council is looking to provide security to Rudon’s residence.
