Belize City Council issues statement on terminations of employees

Posted: Thursday, May 10, 2018. 7:23 am CST.

BBN Staff:  Yesterday evening, the Belize City Council issued a statement following the termination of employees from the Council including city administrator Candice Miller.

In the statement, the council made reference to the press conference held two weeks ago when Mayor Bernard Wagner reported on, “the poor fiscal condition of the council’s finances.”

At that press conference, Wagner stated that restructuring was an inevitable and necessary component to achieve financial stability and fulfillment of the council’s mandate.

“After more than two months reviewing of the departmental structures, with the desired objective of fostering efficiency and effectiveness, the council made the decision to part ways with five staff members,” the release explained.

The mayor reassured residents that responsible and transparent administration of the city will always be at the forefront of all decision making, as the council continues with organizational restructuring.
