By BBN Staff:Belizean nurses join the World and the International Council of Nurses (ICN) in speaking out on International Nurses’ Day under the theme – Nurses a voice to lead: Health is a Human Right.
Nurses being the bulk of the health workforce are arduously working toward meeting this objective as they have been transforming health care and health systems so that no person is left behind.
The Ministry of Health says that this broad focus enables nurses to understand the basis of all nursing practice, whether that is in health promotion, illness or trauma prevention, or in acute and chronic care and, as such, they are investing in such areas.
The Ministry is commemorating the event with a nurse week activities that include church services, staff appreciation day, home visits to sick and retired nurses, T-Shirt Day, and socials for nurses.
The event culminates tomorrow, Friday, May 11 with the Nurses Association’s Annual Conference to be held in Punta Gorda Town at the Father Ring’s Parish Hall.
The Ministry of Health, the director of Health services and wider staff of the ministry extend Happy Nurses’ Day to all hard-working nurses across the country.
