Murder investigation launched after fatal stabbing in Belmopan

BBN Staff: Belmopan police are investigating a stabbing incident that claimed the life of a man.

 According to reports, this morning around 2, while Police were closing La Cabana Night Club, they were informed that a gold chain was stolen from a woman outside of the establishment.

When police officers exited the club, they saw three men involved in a scuffle.

Police then approached the three men and one of them ran away.

Police investigation reveals that Luis Monge and Dennis Monterrosa pursued the suspect who had snatched the chain from the woman and upon catching up to him, a struggle ensued and the suspect stabbed the men.

Monge was escorted to the Western Regional Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.

Police have one person detain pending investigation.
