By BBN Staff:Cable providers are now issuing public notices to their customers informing of a coming increase in cable prices effective June 1, 2018.
A press release from the Belize Cable Television Operators Association informs that they have lobbied for incremental cable rate increases to reduce the burden on operators.
That ‘burden’, will now be passed on to consumers.
The release continues saying that impending copyright agreements and the associated costs of being compliant with global standards for respecting intellectual property brings cable providers to the absolute threshold of what these businesses can absorb.
CBC cable gave notice to their customers that cable is going up to $60 monthly inclusive of GST.
This year, Belizeans have seen a consistent increase in gas prices, an increase in electricity rates and now cable prices being hiked.
