Minor charged for weekend shooting incident

BBN Staff:Over the weekend, BBN reported of a shooting incident that resulted in the injury of a six-year-old child.

Yesterday, police arrested and charged a 17-year-old minor from Belize city for the crime.

Police confirmed at their weekly press briefing, that the minor had fired up to 10 shots.

Additionally, he had a gun in his hand when he was caught by police.

The incident happened on Saturday morning. Lemar Orellano, 6, was seated in the rear passenger seat of a white Dodge Caravan taxi driven by William Garbutt when several shots were fired around Central American boulevard.

The shots damaged the rear windshield of the vehicle and broken glass injured the child on his back.
