Belize condemns violence in the Gaza Strip

Posted: Friday, May 18, 2018. 11:20 a.m. CST.

By BBN Staff:The Government of Belize (GOB) today issued a statement condemning the violence at the Gaza strip.

GOB says that it strongly condemns the use of force by the Israel Defense Force against Palestinian civilians, who have a right to peaceful protest.

Belize calls for an end to the violence, and for restraint to be exercised by the Israeli military.

“At the same time, Belize expresses its sympathy to those who have been injured and to the families of those who have died,” the statement says.

GOB reiterates its position that the Israel-Palestine conflict must be resolved peacefully through negotiations between the two parties.

Belize reaffirms its long-held position of support for the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people to self-determination in an independent, contiguous and viable State of Palestine; living side by side with Israel, within secure and mutually recognized borders, and in peace and security with its neighbors.
