By BBN Staff:Police officially charged 27-year-old Nicoli Rhys, of George street Belize city, for the murder of 31-year-old taxi man Luis Carlos Moh.
Police charged Rhys earlier today, in the furtherance of an investigation which began on Monday night. Police say officers responded to a 911 call and went out to the Homeland Memorial Park area of the George Price highway where they found Moh’s body with gunshot wounds to the chest and back.
Officers say they learned that Moh got a call on Monday night to pick up a passenger on King street who he took to mile 8 on the George Price highway. Moh left with his 17-year-old girlfriend and picked up that passenger, and another on Vernon street.
The passengers then told him to drive to Homeland, but while en-route Moh’s girlfriend noticed that one of the men had a gun on him, so she jumped out of the moving vehicle. She told police that she ran to Prosser Fertilizers and heard gunshots on the way over. She asked the security guard for help and he assisted her in making the 911 call. Police have not given any word about the second person.
