By BBN Staff:The Ministry of Agriculture in partnership with the International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT) and funding from the World Bank, held a workshop on Climate-Smart Agriculture opportunities at the Ministry of Agriculture Showgrounds Conference Room in Belmopan yesterday.
The main objectives of the workshop were to share the results of the Cost-Benefit Analysis for priority Caribbean-Smart Agriculture (CSA) practices and to build an investment portfolio for the agriculture sector in the face of climate change.
The portfolio will be used as a planning and programming tool by various stakeholders involved in CSA in Belize.
The Climate-Smart Agriculture concept arises from a need to provide innovative solution towards the complex and integrated goals of increasing yields, improving resilience and promoting a low emission in the agriculture sector.
The workshop is being attended by representatives of various government ministries, research institutions, and non-governmental organizations.
