Attention all drivers: Axle load survey to commence on George Price Highway tomorrow

By BBN Staff: The Ministry of Works today informed the public that an axle load survey to weigh all heavy goods vehicles, including buses, will take place at Mile 29 (near the Belize Zoo) on the George Price Highway.

The survey will commence on Friday, May 25 and go through to Friday, June 1, 2018.

The survey will commence daily at 6.00 am. through to 6.00 pm.

The main purpose of the survey is to gather preliminary information regarding the range of heavy axle loads traversing Belize’s main highways.

The survey is necessary for road engineers to design a more robust road network, improve the performance of routine and periodic maintenance, and to expand its database of vehicular axle weights.

Motorists are encouraged to obey the rules of the road, to drive with caution when approaching the survey site and to be mindful of those involved in carrying out the axle weight survey.
