By BBN Staff: Reports to BBN indicate that teachers from Belmopan Comprehensive School are on sit out today for the second straight day.
Yesterday, the teachers were also outside of the classrooms.
A source informed BBN that the school administration has made a decision that allegedly contravenes the school’s rules regarding requirements for graduation.
The school reportedly asked teachers to re-write exams for several students who failed their final exams and wants to allow students who have failed several core subjects to graduate.
Teachers are sternly condemning the decision and have written to the board.
A copy of the letter was provided to us which reads: “ We the staff of Belmopan Comprehensive School wish to respectfully await your presence to address pressing concerns on monumental changes that would open the door to serious legal, ethical and academic repercussions.”
“ These issues will affect the entire process of fulfilling this year’s graduation requirements,” it stated.
The letter was signed by 36 teachers.
