US $2 million Contract signed for design of Upgrade of Philip Goldson Highway

By BBN Staff:The Ministry of Works signed a contract today with British Consultancy firm, Mott MacDonald Ltd.

The contract is for the provision of consultancy services for the preparation of a feasibility study and detailed designs for road upgrades between miles 24.5 – 92 of the Philip Goldson highway and the Remate Bypass road in Corozal.

Mott MacDonald Ltd. will provide consultancy services for the sum of US $2,152,926.00 (exclusive of GST and any local indirect taxes), which provides for the following scope of services:

Geotechnical investigation

Climate vulnerability assessment

Traffic analysis

Environmental and social impact assessment

Climate adaptation measures to build resilience in our road network

Drainage design

Road safety initiatives and awareness

Review of Remate Bypass, Corozal

Design for the upgrading of the Philip Goldson Highway (miles 24.5-92)

The detailed design of the Philip Goldson highway will allow for upgrading of 67.5 miles/108 km of road and 11 miles of the Remate Bypass to paved standard, inclusive of climate adaption measures to build resilience against climate change impacts.

The consultancy study is to be completed within the next 10 months.

The technical assistance is being funded with a grant from the United Kingdom Caribbean Infrastructure Partnership Fund (UKCIF) through the Department for International Development (DFID) and administered by the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB).
