By BBN Staff: The Republic of China (ROC) Taiwan, one of Belize’s most helpful allies went into panic mode on Friday. That is because Chinese bombers flew overhead the island.

Euro news.com reported that, “…two H-6 bombers passed through the Bashi Channel which separates Taiwan from the Philippines in the early hours of Friday and then rounded Taiwan via Japan’s Miyako Strait, to Taiwan’s northeast.” This act of perceived intimidation came hours after Taiwan expressed that it would not crack under pressure despite continuing to lose its allies to the People’s Republic of China which has engaged in a “dollar diplomacy.”

For this month, the Taiwanese people have lost two of its allies (Burkina Faso and the Dominican Republic).

In recent times, the relationship between the two countries has become heated.

The Chinese are now, more than ever, of the view that the Taiwanese government wants to become an internationally accepted and independent state.

The Chinese have long wanted for the Taiwanese to come under Beijing rules.

While internally, some Taiwanese citizens prefer largely to maintain the status quo. In Taiwan the staus quo refers to maintaining a separation from China but not achieving independence.

Belize has not yet issued a statement on what occurred Friday but the Taiwanese government has issued a release in which it expressed that it was able to monitor the Chinese aircraft and is in a position to safeguard its national security.
