Central TV and Internet announces hike in prices

By BBN Staff:Today, Central TV issued a release officially informing the public that prices for monthly cable services will now be increased to $60.

The new price includes a Free Dibo and General Sales Tax.

In the release , Central TV notes that the new price comes as a result of their membership in the Belize Cable Television Operators Association and their recent announcement to move toward full copyright compliance.

The Belize Cable Television Operators Association announced on May 14 that the associated costs of impending copyright agreements of being compliant with global standards for respecting intellectual property brings cable providers to the absolute threshold of what these businesses can absorb.

Therefore, prices of cable services would be hiked to to reduce the burden on operators.

Belizeans have seen a consistent increase in gas prices, an increase in electricity rates and now cable prices being hiked.
