Two shot in Belize City; One dead

By BBN Staff:  Shortly after 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening, police arrived at the KHMH where construction workers: Gian Moro and Christian Coc had been admitted after reportedly receiving fatal gunshot wounds to their bodies.

Both Coc and Moro were working at the Maud Williams Compound in Belize City and had just left their work to shop at a local Chinese grocery store at the corner of Gibnut St. and Dolphin St. when they were approached by a gunman who fired several shots in their direction.

As a result, Moro, a resident of Benque Viejo Town received wounds to the right side of his hip and a graze to the left side of his neck, while Coc was shot in the neck and lower part of his body. Coc’s injuries were fatal and therefore he succumbed to his injuries.

It is believed that both men had no affiliation with the city, and the motive as to why they were targets is unknown. Police are investigating.
