Free nephrology clinic at La Loma Luz Hospital

BBN Staff:  A capacity building project for the prevention and control of chronic renal failure in Belize began in February 2016.

As part of the on-going project, this year Doctor Mei Fen Pai, nephrologist and nurse Shu Ping Wu from Far Eastern Memorial in Taiwan will be providing free consultations for nephrology patients at the La Loma Luz Hospital.

The free clinics will be held this Wednesday and Thursday, May 30 and May 31 from 1:00-4:00 p.m.

Attendees are asked to bring along their lab results.

Attendees can contact the hospital’s reception desk at 824-2050 to make an appointments.

Nephrology: Nephrology concerns the diagnosis and treatment of kidney diseases, including electrolyte disturbances and hypertension, and the care of those requiring renal replacement therapy, including dialysis and renal transplant patients.

Nephrologist: A nephrologist is a physician who has been trained in the diagnosis and management of kidney disease, by regulating blood pressure, regulating electrolytes, balancing fluids in the body, and administering dialysis.
