British TV series ‘Our Girl’ to feature Belize

By BBN Staff: British television series, Our Girl, which airs on BBC One is returning for its fourth season on Tuesday, June 5 and will feature Belize as one of the stops the show’s female lead navigates her way through.

Our Girl tells the story of a leading woman in the British army, Georgie lan, played by Michelle Keegan, who works as an army medic serving in Kenya. In season four, titled ‘The Nigerian Tour’,  the troops arrive in Kenya, school girls have been kidnapped by Boko Haram. Later in the season, according to the producers, the unit is then joined by special forces on the Guatemalan/Belize border on a separate mission where soldiers get lost in the jungle.”

The show’s creator, Tony Grounds said of the upcoming season: “There are drug runners working that border and smuggling the drugs across it so they’re in a dangerous situation – there are people who would kill them given half the chance because they feel they might have rumbled their drug routes.”

Although the events are set in Belize, filming actually took place in South Africa and Malaysia last year.
