By BBN Staff: Yesterday we reported that the People’s United Party (PUP) had rejected an application by Arthur Saldivar to serve as the standard bearer for the constituency of Belmopan.
Following that revelation, Saldivar took to Facebook in a live press conference in which he made it clear he would be challenging his party legally.
He stated, “I want my supporters and viewers to understand this is still yet another step in the process.”
“A disqualification at the executive is not the end, by no means,” he continued.
According to Saldivar he firmly believes he can make a difference in a division where the incumbent, ” no longer holds the value and principles necessary to be a leader.”
He is of the view that the PUP made an error when his candidacy was rejected and so he will seek legal redress.
“An error has been made by the executive, one that requires legal resolution.”
“I will be seeking an order of mandamus because the process that started on April 17, 2018, has been marred with bias and prejudice, as a result, I believe there is a need to have the court look at these things, especially the constitution of the PUP,” he informed.
According to Saldivar, the PUP is not adhering to its constitution but he will not give up.
He said, “It is not in my DNA to give in or give up…I fight.”
According to Saldivar, he has come to the end of the road with the PUP.
