By BBN Staff: A report from Linea de Fuego Chetumal, a local Mexican news source is reporting that on Thursday evening, a plane allegedly coming from Colombia unloaded a significant amount of drugs in the Rio Hondo River between the communities of La Union and Revolucion.
According to the report, after unloading the cargo, the plane took off and it is suspected that it landed somewhere in Belizean or Mexican territory to fuel up and then to fly back to Colombia.
Information from Mexican Authorities indicated that around 6:30 p.m, a plane coming from Colombia was flying low over the Rio Hondo River and at an area between the aforementioned communities and released several packages into the water.
The packages were suspected to be cocaine.
Three boats with alleged drug operators waited in the river to gather the drugs and then they took off.
The Mexican Military responded at around 8 pm while their Navy crew flew over the area in search of the plane.
The Rio Hondo River marks the border between Belize and Mexico and it appears to be the area where most drug traffickers now operate from.
