Stabbing incident after basketball finals at Civic Center in Belize City

BBN Staff: BBN received reports that shortly after 11 p.m. on Friday night a male person was stabbed. The stabbing occurred at the Civic Center in Belize City just after the National Elite Basketball League (NEBL) basketball finals between the SMART Belize Hurricanes and the Digicell Belize City Defenders.

The victim was transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospiteal (KHMH). Earlier he was reported to be in a critical condition, but as of 8 a.m., today he is listed as stable.

Police have released no details about the incident.

In a related note, the Hurricanes defeated the Defenders on Friday night to win their second NEBL championship in 3 years.
