By BBN Staff: This morning, a 5.2 magnitude earthquake shook off the coast of Guatemala after a catastrophic volcano erupted, killing 38 people and leaving many others missing.
The United States Geological Survey reported that the quake struck in the Pacific Ocean at a depth of 6.2 miles (10 km).
The quake comes after the devastation of Fuego volcano, the most active volcano in Central America that sent rivers of lava into villages yesterday.
The eruption of the volcano has affected over 1 million Guatemalans.
Guatemalan authorities have activated all their emergency response teams.
President Jimmy Morales have declared three days of national mourning for the victims of the tragedy.
Search and rescue efforts are still on going.
