By BBN Staff: On May 31, 2018, police were called to the residence of Laing Gee Fong, 64, a Taiwanese National residing in Ladyville Village, Belize District.
Fong reported to authorities that around 8:50 p.m., he was approached by two men dressed in police uniforms who subdued and robbed him.
Police reports indicate that the men reportedly told Fong that a search of his home was to be conducted as a result of a firearm and ammunition that they were looking for.
Fong allowed the men posing as officers inside his home where they proceeded to tie him up and search his residence.
The robbers stole around $5,000 US/$10,000 BZ dollars and cell phones from his home.
At this time, police don’t have any concrete information as to who these men are, if the uniforms are authentic, or if they live in the area.
Authorities have stated, however, that an intense investigation is being conducted by Ladyville police at this time, and that several homes in the area of known criminals are being searched.
