By BBN Staff: Heated speculations are that former Belize City Mayor, Zenaida Moya, will serve as the People’s United Party (PUP) Standard Bearer in the Mesopotamia constituency in Belize City.
This is groundbreaking because Moya served as a Mayor from the United Democratic Party (UDP) from 2006 to 2012 after a fallout with her party.
She then began to position herself to succeed the UDP’s Michael Finnegan in Mesopotamia but was tossed to the side when Finnegan opted instead to support Shyne Barrow, his nephew.
And so today PUP Leader, John Briceno, was asked to confirm this speculation but he did not.
Instead, he explained, that there is a process to become a representative for the PUP.
In 2006 when Moya took office and succeeded former PUP Mayor, David Fonseca, several PUP supporters and employees at the Belize City Council had been terminated.
