By BBN Staff: On May 27, BBN reported of an incident involving two police officers attached to the San Ignacio Police station.
Police-constable Leonard Benjamin was accused of threatening his colleague Obed Arzu with his gun.
According to reports, the men were arguing over a relationship with a female police officer also attached to San Ignacio Police Station. Benjamin was so annoyed that he took out his firearm and pointed it at Arzu and cranked it.
The Belize Police Department had previously indicated that the matter would be settled internally. However, Arzu pressed charges, and today, Benjamin was formally charged with aggravated assault.
