Two convicted for the murder of Steven Valencia

BBN Staff:  Today, two men were convicted in Belmopan for the murder of Steven Valencia, the former Cayo Chairman for the People’s United Party.

Justice Antionette Moore remanded Marvin Neal and Jaroud Lamb until their sentencing hearing, set for July 12. Cecil Ramirez SC prosecuted the case, while attorneys Oscar Selgado and Leeroy Banner represented the defendants.

In 2013, Steven Valencia, who was 40 years old at the time, was shot and killed in the presence of his two children in his home on La Loma Luz Boulevard in Santa Elena Town.

The prisoners reportedly killed him in the commission of a robbery. Police said that on January 24, 2013, the two prisoners kicked down his door and demanded money and firearms. They ordered Valencia to the ground and then shot him twice ending his life before escaping with only $7.
