Corozal man killed in freak horse and carriage accident

BBN Staff:  A Corozal man was killed in a freak accident on Saturday around 9:30 a.m. involving his horse and carriage.

According to police, Isaac Nickoli, 38, a teacher of Camp 12 in the Newland Mennonite Community, Corozal was traveling with another man on the horse and carriage,when the horse became frantic.

According to reports, the horse fell in a nearby drain filled with water.

The carriage fell on Nickoli and as a result, he was submerged with no room to escape. Efforts were made to free him from under the carriage, but were unsuccessful.

Nickoli died on the scene.
