By BBN Staff: Today, the Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) in Belize announced that 29 Belizeans have been awarded scholarships to study in Taiwan.
The scholarships were awarded by the Taiwan International Cooperation and Development Fund (ICDF) Scholarship Program and the Taiwan Scholarship Program.
Both scholarship programs provide every scholarship recipient a round trip economy class ticket, accommodations, tuition fees, credit fees, insurance, textbook costs, and a monthly allowance from US $400 to US $950 depending on what subject is pursued.
The scholarships will last for a maximum of 5 years for recipients of certain courses.
Four Belizeans have been accepted by the School of Medicine for International Students at the I-Shou University (ISU) to pursue a four-year M.D. program (taught in English for Bachelor’s Degree).
The other 25 scholarship recipients will attend the University of their choice in Taiwan to pursue their undergraduate, graduate or Ph.D. degrees through the scholarships.
All scholarship recipients are required to return to Belize to serve the Government and people of Belize when they complete their studies.
Presently, 363 Belizeans have been granted scholarships to study in Taiwan.
Many of these professionals are currently employed in government and public institutions such as hospitals and schools, as well as in private sectors.
Over 100 Belizean students are currently pursuing their degree programs in Taiwan.
Congratulations to the 2018 Taiwan scholarship recipients.
