World Blood Donors day celebrated

BBN Staff:  Every year on June 14, health professionals and blood donors commemorate World Blood Donors day.

World Blood Donors day was established in 2004 to raise awareness of the need for safe blood and blood products, and to thank blood donors for their voluntary, life-saving gifts of blood.

Today, the Orange Walk hospital is celebrating World Blood Donors day with an open day.

Several high schools in Orange Walk have established information booths at the open day.

There is an on-going competition for the top three most informative booths that bring in the most donors today.

Throughout Belize, the public is encouraged to donate blood and be informed about helping others.
