San Pedro man detained after 6-year-old is fatally shot

By BBN Staff:  A six-year-old baby girl from the San Pedro DFC Area is dead after receiving a single fatal gunshot wound while allegedly playing with a loaded gun. The child’s father, Martin Antonio, 31, to whom the licensed .9mm pistol belongs, has since been detained by police.

Police visited the San Pedro Poly Clinic around 7:45 this morning and observed the child’s lifeless body with a  gunshot wound to the neck and partial amputation of her right index and middle finger.

As investigations are ongoing, the circumstances of the shooting are still unclear.

The gun was reportedly locked inside a drawer in the family’s home, however, no details could be confirmed.

Police recovered one expended shell from the scene.

Other children, ages 2 and 9, were present at the time of the shooting, however, they did not receive any injuries.

The six-year-old, however, died of her injuries at the San Pedro Poly Clinic.
