By BBN Staff: Yesterday around 11:25 a.m., Sunil Talreja, 52, of Progresso Village reported to authorities that around 2:30 a.m., his palapa was set on fire.
According to Talreja, while he was sleeping, he was awakened by someone calling his name and upon checking, he saw four known male persons standing in front of his gate, one of whom lit the structure on fire.
The palapa was constructed from palmetto sticks and thatch roofing and measured 20 feet by 10 feet and had a value of BZ $4,500.
The total damage of the building including tools, furniture, and other miscellaneous items came up to BZ$15,000.
Police are investigating.
