By BBN Staff: On June 5, 2018, the Central Information Technology Office (CITO) was successfully re-certified as being compliant with ISO 27001:2013 standards.

The ISO 27001 standards provisions provide an effective way for CITO to reduce the risk of any information security breach through the implementation of a set of procedures, processes, reports, and documents that define how it manages its information security.

Through team effort and the generous support of the Taiwan International Cooperation and Development Fund (Taiwan ICDF), CITO was able to earn its re-certification.

This is a part of the department’s commitment to maintaining the highest standards of information security management for the protection of the Government’s information, and its IT systems and networks.

As a part of its re-certification, the department underwent a rigorous audit of its information management system for three consecutive days.

The technical and professional staff at CITO is engaged in implementing security measures and promoting awareness about security issues while documenting processes, procedures, and standards.

CITO was first certified in 2015 and has since engaged in periodic internal and external audits to ensure its compliance with international standards as well as to identify potential areas for improvement.

CITO’s ISO 27001 re-certification will be valid until 2021.
