By BBN Staff: On Saturday, June 30, 2018, between the hours of 1 and 2 a.m., police responded to a house on Baymen Avenue, Belize City where an elderly woman and her husband reported to police that they had been robbed at gunpoint.
The woman revealed to authorities that on that night she noticed her kitchen light was being turned on and off and so she thought that it might have been her husband in the kitchen. However, shortly thereafter two masked gunmen entered her room, held her down, demanded money, and inquired about where she kept the safe.
She then led them to the safe where she was then tied up and left in the room as the men ransacked her house. The robbers then took the keys to the gate and vehicle, and shortly thereafter she heard the engine of her vehicle starting.
She apparently managed to make her way to a bedroom where her husband was sleeping and they then called the police.
Several items including two cellphones valued at around $1,500, jewelry valued at around $150, and around $500 in different denominations were stolen.
The vehicle, a Volkswagen Amarok was found in Roaring Creek Village, Cayo District later in the morning.
The individuals have not been identified as yet, but police investigations are ongoing.
