By BBN Staff: On June 29, 2018, the Belize Emergency Response Team (BERT) congratulated their Medical Director, Dr. Rigo Montejo, for completing his fellowship in Emergency Medical Services and Disaster Medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW), USA.

According to a release from BERT, the MCW Fellowship aims to provide EMS Directors the knowledge and skills to positively impact their country through the strengthening of Emergency Medical Services System, thereby promoting health and wellness in communities. The program offers intense, high-yield education and experience to teach the fundamentals in the safe and efficient delivery of medical care and transport.

The program provided the tools necessary for Dr. Montejo to lead as Director of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) development since BERT and the Government of Belize have been striving to move towards another phase of development and policy strengthening for emergency medical and pre-hospital care service.

BERT is a registered Non-Profit, Non-Governmental Organization in Belize which is directed under a qualified Medical Director, Rotarians, Charted Accountants, a Licensed Attorney, and Medical Professionals.

BERT has proudly served the country of Belize over the last 20 years.
