Husband allegedly burns down $250,000 home

By BBN Staff: San Ignacio police are investigating a case of arson in Unitedville, Cayo.

Yesterday, Juanita Gillett,46, told police that on Tuesday night, she and her husband, Morris Martinez got into a fight and she was injured.

Gillett was taken to the Western Regional Hospital for medical treatment while Martinez remained at home.

However, at the hospital, Gillett was informed that her home was engulfed in flames.

The concrete bungalow house with zinc roofing measuring 30 feet by 32 feet was destroyed.

The value of the building is $250,000.

The contents inside the house were valued at $35,000 making it a loss of $285,000.

The property was insured.

Police are investigating.
