Omero’s family offers $15,000 reward for his return

Posted: Thursday, July 5, 2018. 6:36 pm CST.

BBN Staff: Today marks 18 days since San Narciso businessman Omero Campos went missing.

The family of Campos is now offering a $15,000 reward for any information that can lead them to their loved one.

In a flyer issued today, the family is asking that anyone with information to please contact them with concrete evidence.

The family promises that any witness or witnesses will be kept confidential.

On Sunday, June 17, 2018, Campos left his home en-route to his farm and never returned.

Since then, his brother had received an anonymous call where the alleged kidnappers requested a million dollars in order to release Campos. Story here: https://www.breakingbelizenews.com/2018/06/22/five-days-later-homero-campos-still-missing/

On Monday, June 25, 2018, an email was sent to Breaking Belize News and News 5 Belize from the alleged kidnappers in which they claimed to have Campos and were ‘tired of keeping and feeding him’.

The kidnappers had asked that 20 bitcoins be sent within 48 hours or Campos’ life would be at stake.

A bitcoin is a virtual currency which converts to about six thousand US dollars. Twenty bitcoins would convert to almost a quarter of a million Belizean dollars.

Assistant Superintendent of Police, Alejandro Cowo had informed that the email was traced to Switzerland and police could not confirm if Campos was still alive.

Orange Walk police are still actively investigating this as a case of kidnapping.
