By BBN Staff: Prime Minister Dean Barrow’s wife, Kim Simplis-Barrow, was taken on a tour of Jamaica’s historic town of Falmoth along with other First Ladies accompanying their husband’s at the recent 39th Heads of Government CARICOM summit hosted in Jamaica.
According to an article in the Jamaica Gleaner, Simplis-Barrow was among the First Ladies taken on a trolley tour hosted by Jamaican First Lady, Juliet Holness. Lis Cuesta Peraza, the wife of new Cuban president, Miguel Diaz-Canel, was also a part of the tour.
Holness said it was important for the other First Ladies to see the local artisans, bus drivers, taxi operators and those working in the food and tourism industry to present an authentic experience of Jamaica’s culture.
Simplis-Barrow told the Jamaican media outlet that she was pleased to be taken on the tour and spend time with the other First Ladies. She added that though her stay this time was short, she would be back to Echo Rios, which she has always wanted to visit.
The other First Ladies also expressed their gratitude for the tour and said they enjoyed being able to see the rich culture of Jamaica.
