Belizean cuisine represented at Taste of Chicago food festival

By BBN Staff:  Belize’s rich culinary experience is being represented at this year’s annual Taste of Chicago food festival, which kicks off today and runs through to July 15 at Grant Park in Chicago, Illinois, USA.

Attendees at the five-day festival will be able to sample a taste of Belize courtesy Garifuna Flava, an authentic Garifuna restaurant in Chicago. Garifuna Flava’s participation marks Belize’s first appearance at the internationally recognized food and music fest.

Garifuna Flavas is one of 26 newcomers to the event. There will be a total of 73 vendors, including 38 five-day vendors, 22 pop-up restaurants and 13 food trucks, according to Chicago’s Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events.

The festival will also feature a long line up of musical talent to entertain the crowd in attendance. Grant Park has hosted the renowned festival every year since 1980 and has quickly grown to become one of the world’s largest food festivals.
