George Benarik arrested and charged for the murder of Ranchito resident

By BBN Staff:  According to police, George Bednarik, 21, from Ranchito village, Corozal, has been arrested and charged for the murder of Ivan Emannuel Sosa, 38, which occurred in the village on April 15.

BBN last reported that around 12:05 a.m., that day, Sosa had been shot while at a local bar.

According to police, around midnight, the proprietor of the bar was closing his establishment, and while leaving with Sosa, they were approached by a masked man who stood at the door pointing a sawed off gun in the direction of the owner.

Sosa then intervened by trying to stop the man from entering the bar, which resulted in him being shot and killed by the assailant.

Police say their investigation led them to Bednarik.
