Heritage Bank opens new sub-branch in Santa Elena

By BBN Staff: The grand opening of the new Heritage Bank sub-branch in Santa Elena town was held yesterday evening.

Present at the ceremony was owner of the bank, Stephen Duncan; Director of Administration and Finance, Crispina Bradley; Minister of Works and Transport, Rene Montero; Mayor of San Ignacio and Santa Elena town, Earl Trapp; Manager of Heritage Bank, San Ignacio, Paula Mena; and Dwight Wade, the supervisor of customer service at the Santa Elena branch.

Bradley, who holds responsibility for the national administration and finance of the bank, explained that Heritage Bank is the first owned and operated Belizean bank. He said it was the first bank to launch cell phone banking, and also the first bank to collaborate and work with all credit unions for the usage of their ATM machines.

Heritage Bank boasts of seventeen years of service to Belizeans.

“Gone are the days that you will need to travel to San Ignacio, Benque Viejo or Belmopan to conduct your banking business. Heritage Bank is now open to you- this is your bank and we urge you to make use of it. We are bringing modern banking facilities to your door step with online payments and salary payments for businesses,” he said

Furthermore, Bradley stated that Santa Elena town is poised to evolve into a robust market place and eco-tourism attraction due to the booming economic activities and spillover of businesses. “Santa Elena time has come and Heritage bank is keen to be a part of this,” he added.

During the ceremony, there were presentations from the Cayo Music School and Western Heat Masqueraders.

The ribbon for the official opening was cut by Duncan and Montero and blue and orange balloons were released immediately thereafter by the employees.

Pastor Kevin Tzib of the Oasis Church in Santa Elena town and guests prayed and blessed the building.

The new branch will host two tellers and a junior supervisor. Mena will be directly involved with the new sub branch and remain stationed at the San Ignacio branch.
