Belize city messenger shot on St. Thomas street

BBN Staff: Belize city police are investigating a shooting incident that occured yesterday evening.

According to reports, Nyrere Parchue, a messenger by profession was riding on St. Thomas street when he was approached by a man who pointed a gun at him and demanded that Parchue hand over a folder with documents.

After the assailant took away the envelope, Parchue set chase after him and caught up on St. Joseph street.

The culprit then pointed the gun at Parchue again.

Parchue fell to the pavement knocking his head and lost consciousness.

Parchue then woke up in the hospital with injuries to the right side of his head and both hands.

This morning, police confirmed that Parchue was shot to the head.

He is listed in a critical but stable condition.

Police investigation continues.
