Young motorcyclist killed on Hummingbird highway

By BBN Staff: A motorcyclist, Albert Idelfonso, 22, was killed in a traffic accident between miles 20 and 21 on the Hummingbird highway Sunday evening.

According to police, Idelfonso crashed head-on with a bus traveling in the opposite direction.

Police say Ian Hines, the bus driver, reported that Idelfonso over-took two vehicles then slammed into the bus. According to Hines, he tried applying the breaks but was unable to avoid hitting the motorcycle.

Idelfonso received severe head and body injuries and was then transported to the Southern Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
