Mother and son graduate together from Galen University

By BBN Staff: Galen University in Belize held their 15^th Commencement exercise on Sunday, July 17, and for the first time in the institution’s history, a mother-son duo graduated together.

Corlan Galvez and her son, 21-year-old Nyle Galvez celebrated the achievement with family and friends at the graduation ceremony over the weekend.

Corlan, a full-time primary school teacher graduated with a Bachelors degree in Primary Education and her son Nyle earned a Bachelors degree in Computer Science.

Corlan is affectionately known as ‘Teacher Polly’ among her students and colleagues.

At the ceremony, she carried a photograph of her mom who had always supported her, but recently passed away.

Teacher Polly’s daughter, Raven told us more about her mom: “ My mom is  a full time mom, a full time wife, a full time teacher and was a full time student at Galen. She is my wonder woman!”

Her husband was also present to celebrate the accomplishment with Polly and Nyle. He is a professor at Galen University.
