By BBN Staff: Yesterday we reported on an armed robbery that occurred on Tuesday night just after 11:45 at a residence in Belize City where a woman and her common-law husband were held at gunpoint, tied up, and robbed.
According to police, the couple was at home when two armed men came into the house through their main door which was opened at the time and stole two cellphones, a gold watch, and a silver ring.
However, quick police response led to the recovery of one of the cellphones and the detention of a minor who police believe to have broken into the house.
When asked what was the motive for the robbery, authorities stated that they believe the assailants were just taking advantage of the opportunity when they realized that the couple’s house door was opened.
Police advise that since many crime and burglaries have been occurring in the area that residents be cautious, vigilant, and to secure their properties.
Police investigations are ongoing.
